First, let’s go over the similarities between the 2022 F-250 and the 2022 F-350. They both offer the same options when it comes to standard and available engines. You can also choose between either one of the two transmissions in either model.

Transmission

As stated above, you can choose to have either transmission in your F-250 or your F-350. The main difference between these two models is their standard transmission. In the F-250, the TorqShift G 6-Speed Automatic transmission with SelectShift Automatic is standard. In the F-350, the TorqShift G 10-Speed Automatic transmission is standard. 

Engine

Now that we know that your engine options are the same in both models, let’s go over the details of these engines. The 6.2L flex-fuel gas V8 engine is standard in both the F-250 and the F-350. The two available engines include the 7.3L gas V8 engine or the 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel engine.

Capability 

When choosing between the F-250 and the F-350, the deciding factor is likely to be their towing capacities and payloads. It’s important to keep in mind that how much weight they can carry or tow depends on which engine you choose.

Payload

The F-350 has a payload that’s almost twice as much as the F-250’s payload. The F-350 has a maximum payload of 7,850 pounds. If this is more than you need, then the F-250’s gas payload of 4,260 pounds may be right for you. Or choose the diesel engine in the F-250 for a maximum payload of 3,940 pounds.

Towing

The 2022 F-250 has a towing capacity that can handle a variety of tasks. A whopping 20,000 pounds is its maximum conventional towing rating. Or you can hitch it up for a diesel gooseneck and a 5th-wheel towing rating of 22,800 pounds. So, how big of a difference is the F-250’s towing rating compared to the F-350’s? Well, the difference is quite significant when you hitch up the F-350. It has an incredible 32,500-pound 5th-wheel tow rating and an available 37,000-pound gooseneck tow rating. Without the 5th wheel or gooseneck, the F-350 has a maximum gas towing rating of 21,000 pounds. If you choose the diesel engine, it has a maximum towing rating of 24,200 pounds.
