Why Maintain Your A/C System?

When it's hot outside, make sure your car's air conditioning is functioning correctly so that you and your passengers can stay cool and comfortable. A/C maintenance on a regular basis may also help you avoid costly technical concerns in the future. If your refrigerant level is too low, for example, your A/C compressor may not receive adequate cooling or lubrication, resulting in catastrophic system damage.

Signs Your A/C May Need Maintenance

When water enters your air conditioner, it combines with the refrigerant to create a highly corrosive acid that eats away at the system's components. This acid could eat away at the rubber seals that keep the refrigerant from leaking. The cooling power of your air conditioner will be lowered if refrigerant leaks. A clogged drain in your evaporator case or a damp or dirty cabin air filter could be the cause. Excess moisture in the evaporator core can cause mold and other debris to grow, obstructing airflow into the interior of your car.
